Never give up on your dreams.

When I first published "Born Again in America," Memoir. I knew I had much to learn about becoming a writer. A year later, I had the opportunity to celebrate my hard work at my first book signing, which turned out to be the best experience of my life. I had thought the signing was only about selling books, but it was so much more than that. I met the most wonderful people who inspired me and gave me hope.

I want to credit the photographer, Julie Ann Bakker, who captured the event beautifully, and my publicist, Aby Davidson, who made the book signing possible at the Art Ovation Hotel, Autograph Collection.

That day, I met some fantastic people who I will never forget. My father's family was there, honoring my father's love for his family in general.

My father was the most loving man on earth; it was heartwarming to see him being celebrated by everyone present.

The experience taught me never to give up on my dreams and to keep moving forward.

The Frustration that dwelled within us…

The decision to write a book came from a place of frustration that dwelled within me. I was grappling with numerous questions, doubts, and fears that seemed to have no answers. However, as I poured my thoughts onto paper and wrote draft after draft, I discovered a wealth of knowledge I had never imagined. Eventually, I became a self-published author, and the feeling was nothing short of a dream come true. I was proud of myself and all the titles I had earned.

However, as time passed, I began questioning my goals. Deep down inside, I knew that my heart desired to help my family in Cuba by buying a house for my mother and supporting my sisters.

I reached out to God in prayer, asking for divine intervention. To my surprise, God's response came in unexpected ways. Instead of allowing me to sell books, He sent me problems that came with money and attention. Through these challenges, God taught me the value of money and what matters in life. Moreover, I learned that my mother and sisters didn't need my money specifically.

What They need is my unwavering faith and belief that one day, my actions would bless generations of my family.

Is Freedom Free ?

Defining freedom is a challenging task, especially for those who have grown up in communist countries like me. However, moving to the United States, a country where freedom is highly valued, has been a blessing. Despite this, the concept of freedom here can differ from what has been advertised; some may find absolute freedom, while others may only experience a superficial version. True freedom is one that comes from the heart and is inherent in all of us since birth. Unfortunately, some people may never achieve complete freedom.

“Freedom had always been with me. I had been fighting, looking for it, then ultimately found it in my blood and my roots. Indeed, Freedom is in the heart.” Mory Carballo

Her face bears the marks of her journey as an immigrant in a foreign land.

The sun slowly rises above the horizon, painting the room with a warm and gentle glow. In front of the mirror she stands, her eyes heavy with fatigue, meeting her own reflection. Her face bears the marks of her journey as an immigrant in a foreign land - the lines of worry etched deep into her skin, while the lines of exaltation tell the story of her resilience and determination in navigating an unfamiliar culture. The woman stands before the mirror, her countenance marked with a deep frown. Her eyes shift from her nose, mouth, her cheeks to her eyes, searching for a connection between the reflection and the person she knows herself to be. The mirror is a revealer of truth, and she is forced to confront the reality it presents. "How did I get here?" she whispers….

The new American Dream Challenge.

I have been facing challenges for months, but I know they come to us all.

Lately, during my moments of solitude, I have been thinking about my father. He has a strong love for America and the American dream. The idea that in America, anyone can achieve their goals resonates with him.

Despite the uncertainty of the American dream, I am genuinely grateful to my father for this gift.

I recently discovered that one of my friends has lived in this country for 12 years and has just published a book. For various reasons, she didn't believe that she could accomplish this goal. But she did it anyway. Something that people like her or me could never achieve in Cuba.

Meavy, the American dream needs adaptation. America evolves.

Dreams can still come true for those taking one step at a time. Even if they fall, they get back up and keep moving forward - with tears in their eyes, if necessary. Nothing inspires the human spirit more than overcoming obstacles with grace and gratitude.

Last but not least, I challenge you to reinvent the American dream, to believe in yourself, and to pursue your goals.

I challenge you to maintain faith in your family and friends and to believe in a new American dream that we, the people, will create.

Then, let’s talk about The American DREAM.

In Cuba, I spent my childhood and upbringing. I won't delve into the topic of Communism or what Castro may have taken from me or my family, because that would be a lie. In truth, Castro's government never gave us anything, so they couldn't have taken anything from us either.

Growing up, my father instilled in me an appreciation for the American dream. Despite feeling like he could never quite reach it himself, he encouraged me and others to pursue it with courage. He wanted us to embark on an adventure to find the missing piece of the puzzle that he had lost. His passion for the American dream was contagious, and I am grateful for the values he taught me.

My father possessed the most crucial pieces of the puzzle: his parents, siblings, and the chance to spend weekends with them, singing and creating memories. He had his family. However, what he truly desired was freedom - the fundamental freedom that we all require to become the best version of ourselves. Tragically, it was snatched away from him, and he was aware of it.

Then one day, when I was 23, my father unexpectedly died from a heart attack. After my father's death, I knew I had to leave Cuba. And find that missing piece that he could not have or made him proud. I have been searching for that American dream my father once told me.

After spending almost 15 years in America, starting my own family, and chasing the American Dream, I been busy trying to achieve the material part of the dream.

However, I been unknowingly learning the valuable lesson of perseverance. THAT, Freedom is a precious but costly commodity. THAT, The true essence of the American Dream still exists. Let's continue to strive for it. We must discover what brings us joy and fulfillment. Let us not clutter this empty space with meaningless pursuits; instead, let us open our hearts and listen to a beautiful melody. Read a poem or write a letter to a friend THAT can be a great way to cope with pain and struggles. It's important to face our struggles rather than numb them out because the suffering can teach us valuable lessons and help us become the best version of ourselves.

The American Dream, as my father once explained to me, is an absolute. If you dare to believe in the possibilities that exist in this country, and if you have a family or even just one friend to lean on, and you believe THAT God is with you, my friend, then you are in the right place. I am grateful to my father for giving me the best gift of all - the belief in the American Dream.
