Recently, my nine-year-old daughter asked me, "Mom, what does your name mean?"

Have you ever taken a moment to reflect on your name?

The significance behind it, the reason your parents chose it, and the roots it represents?

I hadn't truly pondered the meaning of my name until I was writing my memoir.

Recently, my nine-year-old daughter asked me, "Mom, what does your name mean?"

I knew the answer, but encouraged her to discover it herself. She found that my name, Moraima, means

"beautiful as the blueberry tree" in Latin, a reminder of the beauty and uniqueness we all carry within us.

A story that makes you...

Have you ever thought about those storytellers who make you believe in a world beyond your understanding?

I never considered myself much of a storyteller, but as I reflect on my childhood, filled with the warmth of my father's presence, I realize how profoundly those moments shaped me. It all makes sense now as I connect the threads of those vivid stories to my own journey.

Not long ago, a story my father used to tell came to mind. It was about a man whose tractor got stuck in the mud. When some of his friends insisted him to call for help to get out, the man confidently replied,

"This is a Ford; a Fordson Major—it will get out of here."

That story, along with others about America and the concept of the American Dream, represents my memories of faith and belief. Today, I am truly grateful for those storytellers.

Trying something new can be intimidating and lead to self-doubt.

As a self-published author, I’m learning this journey not just for myself but for my daughter, showing her that she can achieve her dreams. I want to build a foundation that leads her to a better path.

Motherhood, whether embarked upon early or later in life, comes with its uncertainties. Parenting is full of surprises and challenges, and it can be tough to care for yourself while meeting your newborn's needs. There will be moments of confidence and times of doubt.

It’s crucial to embrace both the joys and difficulties, as they foster growth as a parent. Ultimately, motherhood is about continuous learning, and the love and effort we put in matter most.

I recommend the movie "The Wild Robot," which explores themes of adaptation, friendship, technology, and the importance of community and empathy. My favorite character is Fink, a fox whose relationship with Roz symbolizes the transformative power of kindness and highlights cooperation, showing that even a solitary animal can learn to trust and respect others.

Confronting the past.

Revisiting the past can elicit a variety of emotional responses. For some individuals, the idea of looking back is deeply unsettling, as it may bring forth painful memories and unresolved issues that they would prefer to forget. Conversely, others may find this exploration enlightening, offering insights that can foster personal growth and understanding.

The question arises: Is delving into the past a constructive approach to ensuring we do not repeat our past mistakes? Reflecting on previous experiences can serve as a crucial learning opportunity, allowing individuals to recognize patterns in their behavior and decisions.

However, it's important to acknowledge that confronting the past often comes with its own set of challenges. This journey can bring about feelings of heaviness, revealing truths we may have buried deep down. We may uncover regrets, losses, or disappointments that we had hoped to leave behind.

On the other hand, for some, revisiting the past can be a path to healing. It provides a chance to process emotions and experiences fully, potentially leading to closure and a stronger sense of self. Ultimately, each person's relationship with their past is unique, shaped by their individual experiences and perspectives.

The American Dream.

I believe that the phrase "The American Dream" can evoke a wide range of emotions and interpretations. For some, it may spark controversy, while for others, it represents a beacon of hope. Personally, as an immigrant, I have grappled with the complex notion of the American Dream, striving to understand its significance in my life.

Much of my knowledge about America came from stories shared by my father, who painted vivid pictures of the opportunities available to someone like us. He often spoke of America as a land of promise, filled with individuals who dared to dream big and worked hard to achieve those dreams.

For me I am living the American Dream—the one my father would have loved for me to have. Today, I proudly stand as a self-published author. I speak English as a second language, and I have achieved far more than my father ever imagined for me.

Social Media: A Distraction or Not?

In my last post on my YouTube channel, I delved into the various benefits of social media, sharing my personal opinions on the topic. What truly fascinates me is how, particularly in the United States, social media serves as a powerful platform for freedom of speech. It's remarkable to see individuals from all over the world using platforms like TikTok and Facebook to express their views on government policies and the actions of political leaders. This vibrant exchange of ideas reinforces the notion that America remains a land where dreams can still come true, as it provides a space for diverse voices to be heard.

I follow a broad spectrum of content creators and influencers on social media, not necessarily to adopt their viewpoints, but to enrich my understanding of different perspectives.

I find value in the unique skills and intellect each person brings to the table. Some are exceptional marketers and communicators, while others offer insights to free therapy sessions, helping followers navigate life's challenges. Additionally, many comedians bring humor into everyday situations, offering a much-needed dose of joy. While not every creator may stand out in their field, the wide array of options available allows us to choose who resonates with us, making the digital landscape both engaging and enlightening.

Thank you for reading

See you next time.

Believe in the American Dream, the land of opportunity.

From the very beginning, when I wrote "Born Again in America: A Nation Where Dreams Still Come True," my goal was to honor my father. Now more than ever, I dedicate this memoir to America.

I wholeheartedly believe in the American Dream and the land of opportunity. No matter the challenges I face, I remain steadfast in my convictions. The United States of America is the place my father envisioned for me since I was a little girl.

Years after I arrived in America, I found comfort in the supreme law of the land, the Constitution, and recognized the importance of the fundamental rights that the Founding Fathers established in 1787. They created a legacy of rights for all citizens and others living in the United States.

I know my father was right: this is still a place where people from all over the world CAN TRY THEIR DREAMS.

Sharing personal struggles on social media.

Not long ago, as I was scrolling through my social media feed, I stumbled upon a thought-provoking post that stated, "People should share more of their personal struggles instead of presenting their lives as if everything is perfect." This really got me thinking about the impact of sharing personal issues and whether it truly helps. From my perspective, revealing personal challenges can be beneficial, but there are clear guidelines to follow, especially when it comes to social media.

**Step 1:** Consider the nature of your problem before confiding in anyone. Generally, it’s wise to keep family discussions limited to your mother or father. These are the individuals who are most likely to provide unconditional support and understanding.

**Step 2:** Avoid discussing your issues in church or religious settings. Sharing personal problems in these environments can often lead to gossip, turning you into the center of unwanted attention and conversation.

**Step 3:** Seek out resources that resonate with your experiences. This could be books, podcasts, or films that deal with similar issues. Engaging with these materials can offer insights and coping strategies, almost acting as a form of free therapy, especially if professional help is not an option.

**Step 4:** Keep your priorities straight. Regardless of how overwhelming your challenges might feel—whether they pertain to finances, health, or personal relationships—remember that these situations are often temporary. Stay committed to your responsibilities, particularly if others, like your children or colleagues, rely on you.

**Step 5:** Once you navigate through your difficulties and come out the other side (which you will), consider sharing your story. By doing so, you'll not only foster a sense of community but also provide support to others who may be facing similar circumstances. Use social media thoughtfully to amplify your message and help others who may feel isolated in their struggles.

Happy day to you all .

**Be Aware of Your Feelings**

Did you know that sadness is a universal experience, transcending nationality and culture? Regardless of where you come from, feeling sad is a common human emotion that everyone encounters at some point in their lives. As we grow into adulthood, many of us tend to suppress our emotions, often believing that expressing sadness is a sign of weakness, particularly if we have children relying on us. We may convince ourselves that displaying feelings like sorrow or tears is no longer appropriate for us.

Unfortunately, sadness is a valid and significant human emotion. Feeling sad can reflect deep care and empathy for the people and situations around us. It’s essential to acknowledge this emotion rather than dismiss it.

However, it's crucial not to allow sadness to linger indefinitely, as prolonged feelings of sadness can drain our energy and diminish our overall well-being. To counteract these feelings, find healthy ways to express and process your emotions. Engage in creative pursuits like painting or singing, which allow for self-expression. Consider activities such as coloring, which can be meditative and relaxing, or even nurturing plants in your home to cultivate a sense of growth and care. Don't hesitate to embrace life’s simple pleasures—wear that favorite dress that makes you feel good or indulge in that delicious piece of cake. These small acts can help uplift your spirit and remind you that it’s okay to feel, heal, and enjoy life.

I was afraid of silence.

Opening up about myself is something I often hesitate to do, as it feels somewhat selfish. However, I believe that sharing my background will help illustrate the point of this post.

I was born and raised on a small, vibrant island in the Caribbean—Cuba. Growing up, I was enveloped in a rich tapestry of sounds: the lively rhythms of salsa music pouring out of open windows, the laughter and chatter of family gatherings, and the animated conversations that filled our home.

However, life took a drastic turn, forcing me into a period of silence. At first, this shift was uncomfortable; the absence of familiar sounds felt like a void.

But as I sat in silence over time, I began to understand its profound nature. It revealed to me a new kind of companionship—a quiet presence that allowed for introspection and self-discovery. I realized that this silence was not just an absence of noise, but an invitation to connect with my thoughts and emotions in a way I had never experienced before.

It was a reminder that sometimes, true company comes not from the clamor of voices around us, but from the stillness within ourselves.

I want to be famous.

When I was a little girl, I remember my father encouraging me to recite, sing, and even dance. For a long time, I fell in love with my music, striving to express myself through dance and poetry. I believed I was an artist. I now understand that I was trying to be someone my father envisioned for me.

I realize that my father wanted me to achieve dreams he could only imagine. I longed for fame, wanting to be known for my music, dancing, or any artistic passion my father instilled in me. That didn’t happen.

However, after I wrote and published a memoir, I discovered that I had fulfilled my father’s dreams in my own unique way. I no longer seek fame; instead, I aspire to one day thank my father in heaven for teaching me about life, love, and the pursuit of my own happiness.

**Why the 4th of July is My Favorite Holiday**

Although I was born and raised in Cuba, an island in the Caribbean renowned for its vibrant culture and rich history, the 4th of July holds special significance for me, as it falls just one day after my birthday. I am considering the possibility of owning a Rolex one day.

Before purchasing a luxury item, I believe it's essential to conduct thorough research. I often find myself buying books or watching documentaries that provide insight into the stories behind the artists and brands that create these items. This interest applies to various items, including jewelry, bags, perfumes, and clothing from brands like Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, Chanel, and Rolex…

I grew up in a modest household on a small island, and I genuinely believe that the most valuable things in my life are my mother and father. We didn't have nice furniture or expensive silverware. The only item my father had that stood out was a classic gray and white 1946 Ford. I have a picture of myself standing on the hood of that car on one of my birthdays. One day, my father bought a doorbell, and he always thought that having it meant he would eventually build a house. That simple doorbell made me feel rich for a time, just because we owned it.

For these reasons, I want to educate myself and learn the stories behind any items I plan to purchase, especially luxury items. I share this background because I had no idea where Rolex originated or who invented it, and I was unaware of the story behind the brand.

Now that I have that knowledge,

I am considering the possibility of owning a Rolex one day.

Embrace your true self.

I remember a long time ago when I worked at a particular company, a bustling environment filled with diverse personalities and ambitions. There was a woman who approached me during a break, her tone serious as she leaned in slightly, and said, right in front of another coworker, “Don’t be fooled by her smile because she’s really a little 'B'.” Her words struck me hard, leaving me confused about how to view my own demeanor.

Another day, a younger colleague, full of ambition and determination, caught me off guard. I approached her with genuine warmth and friendliness, hoping to foster a connection. She looked at me, her expression a mix of seriousness and a hint of indifference, and said, “Hi lady, I come here to make money, not to make friends.” Her bluntness left me questioning my approach to workplace relationships.

To summarize, I almost believed what both of these women said about me. I started to worry that I really was a little 'B' and that, as they suggested, the primary purpose of going to work is purely to earn a paycheck.

Over time, through numerous experiences and reflections, life has given me ample opportunity to understand that I am not a little 'B.' While I may be short in stature, I pride myself on my character and the kindness I try to show to others. I don’t aspire to embody the negativity that can sometimes pervade the workplace. And yes, regardless of the system in which you find yourself working—whether corporate or casual—you ultimately go to work to earn a livelihood. However, there are moments when I would willingly work for free if it meant helping a colleague or making a positive impact; such instances turn casual coworkers into genuine work friends.

According to the Bible, there is a time and place for everything—recognizing that has helped me maintain perspective.

The moral of this story is simple yet powerful: don’t let anyone dictate who you are not, as their judgments often stem from their own insecurities and experiences. Embrace your true self and accept that everyone has their own reflections and struggles.
